TMJ is an abbreviation for Temporomandibular Joint, which is located near your ear where your lower jaw and skull meet. When this joint begins to deteriorate, the resulting condition is known as TMJ disease, or TMD.

The deterioration is often caused by a misaligned bite, which is where the teeth and jaw fails to line up properly, causing stress and unnecessary wear on the joint.

People who suffer from this condition may experience headaches, migraines, pain in the jaw, face, neck and shoulders.  Additional symptoms may include earaches, trouble chewing, “popping” of the jaw, and toothaches.

The Treatment Process
